Discover quality art from Wessex Guild at Hampshire Open Studios 2022

9th August, 2022 | 0 comments

The Wessex Guild of Craftsmen is participating in the increasingly popular Hampshire Open Studios event again this year.

Hampshire Open Studios showcases art, craft and design across the whole county of Hampshire. It takes place in over 250 venues, each opening at different times during the 10 days up to, and including, the August Bank Holiday Monday. Some artists open their studios individually, while others get together to show their work in groups.

The Wessex Guild is displaying work by nine members over the four days of 26th-29th August 2022. The venue is the popular Paterson Centre, adjoining St Barnabas Church in the centre of the village of Swanmore in Hampshire.

Exhibitors include Linda Banks (stained glass), Sheila Barrow (embroidered textile art), Jo Berryman (pottery), Louise Brown (basketmaker), Vicki Hunt (digital art), Wendy Smith (acrylic art), Richard Stapley (woodturning), Susan Ware (decorated ceramics) and Vanessa Wells (illustrator).

You are promised a feast of beautiful and unique art and craft, all under one roof, so there is sure to be something lovely to tempt you. Treat yourself or buy a gift for a friend or loved one. You can also speak to the artists themselves so there is an opportunity to find out about their techniques and even commission a special piece.

Next door to the hall is Barnaby’s Cafe, which will be open on the Friday (10-12 and 2-4) and Saturday (10-1) for refreshments.

There is lots of free parking right opposite the Paterson Centre so make a note of the dates (26-29 August, from 10am to 5pm daily). If you live locally, the banner and balloons will be out to remind you about the exhibition. We even had a page of publicity in the Swanmore Parish Magazine too, where you can see some of the members’ work. Why not bring the relatives and friends you have staying over the August Bank Holiday weekend?

We look forward to seeing you there!

The Paterson Centre is in Church Road, Swanmore, Hampshire SO32 2PA.
