Porcelain and Watercolour Art

I began painting on fine china and porcelain in 1979, enrolling as a pupil at the studio of the late Dorothea Richards. Over the following four years, I continued my studies, receiving an Associate Diploma in Porcelain Art in 1983, issued in association with Urchfont College.

A very steady hand and much patience are needed in order to achieve the delicate touch required for such fine work, where the depth is built up gradually by layers of paint applications, with a kiln firing following each. Sometimes an edging of 22ct gold is added to give that final finish to a beautiful piece. Occasionally I also use metallic lustres and dichroic glass. Typically I display hand-painted, high quality fine china or porcelain pieces, such as vases, teapots, egg cups and trinket boxes, alongside other decorative items.

I also specialise in a selection of seasonal Christmas tableware and decorative pieces each year, all painted with my exclusive Holly design. Many of my customers return each year in order to add to their collection.

My watercolour work can be seen on small pictures, paperweights and cards.

I am a member of Fareham Art Group, exhibiting annually. I also take part in the art shows at Titchfield and Denmead.
