If you haven’t visited the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Romsey, Hampshire, they are highly recommended. Developed over many years, they are the flagship gardens of Hampshire.
Alongside your visit this June and July you have the added benefit of a free exhibition of work by members of the Wessex Guild of Craftsmen. Our members have been showing and selling their high quality art and craft in the pavilion near the entrance kiosk for two weeks each summer for several years.
For 2023 we have a total of 14 members displaying their work – seven each week. The exhibitors will change between weeks one and two.
In week 1 (Thursday 22 June to Monday 26 June inclusive [10am-5pm daily]): Linda Banks (stained glass); Sheila Barrow (textile art); Dorothy Borland (fused glass); Louise Brown (basketmaking); Nicky Heard (felted art); Vicki Hunt (digital art) and Lynn Nicholls (ceramics).
In week 2 (Wednesday 28 June to Sunday 2 July inclusive [10am-5pm daily]): Ron Caddy (woodturned pens); Karen Frampton (paintings); Sara Le Gris (sea glass art); Helen Murchie (Harris Tweed textiles); Cheryl Phillips (jewellery) and Jacqueline Rolls (willow weaving) and Vanessa Wells (Illustrations).
As the exhibition is in the building to the left of the entrance kiosk you can call in to browse and buy as you arrive, and leave your purchases with the team to collect later on your way out. Chat to some of the artists about their work and find out more about their processes.
What could be nicer than to buy a beautiful piece of unique art or craft for yourself or a loved one? We look forward to seeing you there!
