I’m a fused glass artist based in Hedge End, Southampton, originally from Yorkshire.
I create playful, nature-inspired fused glass art featuring cheeky seabirds, colourful coastal animals, charming garden birds and vibrant festive decorations.
Each piece is handmade using bright Bullseye glass and, where possible, locally
sourced driftwood. I use traditional cutting and layering techniques, combining tack-firing and full-firing to create depth, texture and character. I also incorporate wirework and hand-painted details using specialist glass paints, bringing each piece to life.
My work is inspired by my love of the coast and its wonderful natural inhabitants, as well as my fascination with animals, especially birds, both big and small. I particularly love garden birds and often find myself watching them through my home-studio window while I work, providing plenty of inspiration for my designs.
My journey with glass began in 2003 while studying at the University of
Wolverhampton, where I specialised in glass blowing. After graduating, I continued my studies at the International Glass Centre in Dudley, where I also began exploring fused glass.
Over time, I discovered a real passion for fused glass and began creating my first robin decorations. These little robins eventually inspired the name of my business, Little Glass Robin.
Alongside my colourful fused glass work, I also create a collection of monochrome fused glass paintings inspired by British seascapes and landscapes. These pieces have a more atmospheric and expressive feel, capturing the beauty and character of the British coastline and countryside.
I create each painting using powdered glass enamels, which I mix with water to create a paint-like medium. Working directly onto sheets of glass, I build up the image using layers of delicate brushstrokes and subtle tones, gradually creating texture, depth and detail. Once the painting is complete, it is then fired in the kiln, permanently fusing the enamels to the surface of the glass.
