Wessex Guild welcomes new member Alison Nash

The Wessex Guild of Craftsmen is delighted to welcome new member Alison Nash, who specialises in creating mixed media mosaics.

Alison uses traditional glass tiles, combined with beads, glass, stones, wood, metal, fossils and semi-precious stones to make her detailed pieces.

Alison explains, “Each piece takes many hours to make – sometimes as long as 200 hours – but I find the process totally absorbing.”

She takes inspiration from the world around her, as well as from the materials she uses. The act of looking through her vast collection of beads and stones is often the catalyst for another piece.

No two works will ever be the same, she points out, as the elements she uses are often one-of-a-kind pieces that may be antique or rare.

She enjoys experimenting with different media to give texture to her work, and most pieces have raised, highly textured surfaces.

Alison has had her artworks in various galleries and we hope she will be taking part in some of the Wessex Guild’s regular events, where you will have the chance to see her beautiful pieces in person.

View more of her work on her Member profile page.
