In the light of the global spread of the Coronavirus in recent weeks, and the Government’s daily briefings urging everyone to avoid contact with other people, several art exhibitions and events have been cancelled or postponed.
The Wessex Guild’s display and sale of work, that was scheduled to begin in the coming days at the Harold Hillier Gardens, near Romsey, Hampshire, has been cancelled.
Another event that the Guild participates in each year has been postponed. This is the popular Garden Show at Stansted Park in Hampshire. It has been moved from its regular early-June slot to 4, 5 and 6 of September 2020. So please update your diaries and hopefully the measures put in place will be lifted by then and it will go ahead.
Several members of the Wessex Guild have plans to take part in different events through the year and it is likely that more of these will have to be cancelled or postponed. So please check with individual artists or venues for the latest information.
Many people will be working from home and not attending social events in the coming weeks and months, but we can all help to cheer one another up with a phone call or deliver shopping.
Why not send a little artwork or handmade gift to a friend or loved one who you cannot see in person? Some members of the Wessex Guild have their own online shops and are happy to post items. Please have a look through the members’ pages and contact them directly to organise a thoughtful delivery that will help everyone through these difficult times.
