I was first introduced to the delights of working with glass during my BA (hons) degree in Art and English at the University of Surrey. I use both traditional copper foil and leading techniques to create unique stained glass windows, as well as bespoke artworks for the home, including wall art, freestanding panels, mirrors, lamps, fun glass sculptures, framed pictures, jewellery and decorated vases.
I love the changing effect of light on coloured glasses, which gives all the artworks made from this beautiful medium added life and interest. As well as using glass, I often add details like glass marbles and wire to bring new textures, personality and uniqueness to my designs.
My stained glass business, Orchid Stained Glass, was established in 2013. The name orchid was chosen because it evokes the values behind my company, which produces exquisite, enduring works of art that take time to grow, but which will be cherished for a lifetime.
I love to make commissioned pieces and have lots of stories about different stained glass pieces I have made on my website. These include everything from peacock windows to bespoke lamps to sculptures featuring sharks, sewing machines or canal boats. Please get in touch if you’ve got an idea in mind.
I am also a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and Solent Crafters’ Network.
