I was born an asthmatic and, as a result, had to be protected from household dust as a child. Because of this illness, and the fact that most cuddly toys at that time could not be washed, my mother was forced to make the decision to ban me from having a teddy bear. Although I still have asthma, it is easier to take steps to reduce the chance of an attack as an adult, so such extreme measures are no longer necessary. Consequently my husband bought me a teddy bear from Asquiths as a Valentine’s present in 1990. This was the start of my collection.
In an attempt to get an unusual present for my birthday in 1996, my husband took me to Oakley Fabrics to choose a pattern and fabric to make a bear to add to the collection. This bear was named Kit, as that was how he arrived, and I enjoyed making him so much that I decided to make them for sale.
My bears are not toys and are not suitable for children under the age of 14 years.
In 2017 I was approached by the famous toy shop, Hamleys of Regent Street, London to supply them with my Steampunk bears and, exclusive to Hamleys, my Steampunk pandas.
Please note that my bears are not toys and are not suitable for children under the age of 14 years.
